New Honor Place Name in Australia

6374121817_69d11ea1e7_mAustralia’s Place Naming Committee has just announced that a suburb in Canberra will be named after Former Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser, who died in March 2015, after serving nearly 20 years.  Australia has a long tradition of honoring deceased political leaders with toponyms.  Another recent onomastic honoree includes Gough Whitlam, Australia’s 21st Prime Minister.

Skype Name Trademark Controversy

skypeEU court rules that the Skype name is too similar to the name of the Broadcaster, Sky.  For that reason, Microsoft has been prohibited from registering the Skype name as a trademark.
